How to make simple eating habits serve you…not sabotage you

Sometimes when I look at the endless diet debates, I see cupboards full of powders, boosters, and bottled “health” products shown off for people to admire and critique.

It is actually a pretty good effort (especially for someone just starting to improve their diet). But since the entire foundation is built on supplements and shortcuts, they have trouble making their eating flow and feel sustainable.

Anyway, strange as it sounds, that’s where the real weakness of that approach shows up.

In fact, I suggest they remind themselves that they don’t need powders or pills before anything else.

Why?

Because not only does it make the way they eat feel grounded compared to all the slick hacks pushed by marketers and influencers who have more experience selling than helping, but it actually improves their results because it feels like something they can live with, and not a “diet gimmick.”

And so, what I do is repeat the reminder I say to myself:

“My meals are built on giant salads, fresh fruit, beans, and whole grains. I’m not chasing fads. But what I give myself here is so simple and so satisfying, I decide to keep doing it. And I make it a point to stay patient with this shift, one meal at a time.”

And I simply adjust the details and essence of that reminder so it fits my own daily reality.

Not only does it make the way I eat feel more comfortable and approachable to me…but it also gives me a steady sense of confidence in how I live.

And you know what?

If you’re just starting out… or if you’re simply trying to eat better in a food culture where everyone is on the lookout for gimmicks and “BS”… you should consider doing the same thing.

Why?

Because many times when I go out of my way to remind myself I’m not a “diet guy” or “nutrition expert,” even going so far as to include a few quirks like sprouting jars on the counter or oversized bowls of fruit, I actually make my plan (and my choices) more believable and real to me.

Which makes it much easier for my body to bond with the nutrients, trust me, and ultimately reward me with lasting health. Every raw, whole, plant-based meal I eat trains my body to trust me more, repair itself, and give me steady energy.
