I’m sure one exists somewhere. But, I have yet to find it. No… I’m not talking about kale chips or a high-speed blender… I’m talking about a raw food plan that depends on willpower to succeed for life. For example: A reader asked about discipline. She said (and she’s right) most people think staying raw long term means constantly resisting cravings, pushing through temptation, and using brute force to avoid processed food. She doesn’t know if raw food is sustainable for the average person who doesn’t “love salad” or spend their mornings meditating in a yurt. Who wants to live on willpower? And how long can that actually last? My answer: What you do is remove the need for willpower entirely. Build a lifestyle where eating raw is automatic. Most people trying raw are overwhelmed by decisions, triggered by temptations, and still surrounded by the same foods they’re trying to escape from. You simply remove the decisions. Every day. By routine. With meals that are fast, repeatable, and genuinely enjoyable. Then, somewhere in that structure you layer the nutrient density, the fiber, the flavor combinations that satisfy the cravings before they start. Do this and you’re free. You’re not fighting anything. And, you’re making it natural to stay raw without white-knuckling your way through each day. It’s really pretty simple. It goes back to the seatbelt analogy: If you want people to wear seatbelts, don’t lecture them about car crashes, just make buckling up the thing the car beeps about until it’s done. Make it part of the startup. This applies to any dietary shift. Be the designer. Create an environment where choosing raw is the only option. And then let it carry you. As far as the “how to” of setting that up, that’s where the best materials help. First, it starts with one or two meals that you crave, and then each day you refine your rhythm, routine, and structure around eating raw, learning what makes you stay consistent, what meals never get old, and what prep systems remove the friction. The next shift starts in August. That’s when the new book lands. It’s about how to stop relying on willpower. And it’ll make your raw lifestyle stick like brushing your teeth.
